Northland College Student Severely Beaten In Random Attack

Northland College in northern Wisconsin is offering a $1,000 reward after four unidentified men severely beat a student last week.

Twenty-year-old Simeon Rossi was walking home early Friday morning when he was attacked.

The senior underwent surgery Tuesday to reconstruct a shattered eye socket. He also suffered a broken nose, facial fractures and a torn earlobe.

Rossi says all he remembers is the men driving past him about 2:30 a.m. shouting an insult. He says when he woke up he was covered in blood.

Rossi says he's not afraid to be in Ashland, but it's scary that people would commit such acts of violence for fun.

Northland is a liberal-arts college with about 700 students.
