Rattlesnake Bite in Western Wisconsin?
A Cornell man says he thinks a rattlesnake bit him while he was fishing at the dam. UPDATE: The DNR confirmed it is NOT a rattlesnake, rather a Northern Watersnake.

Today there was one rattlesnake in Cornell near the Old Abe bike trail head. I accidentally bumped it with my bike tire. I stopped and turned around to check it out. It was curled up and rattled at me loud and clear. I quickly backed up, and it left the trail. It had an interesting tan and black diamond pattern was not very big, about a foot long.

couple of ignorant hicks...obviously not a rattler... so you thought you were bit enough to cut your wrist but then didnt go to the doctor? IDIOT

In the immortal words of Bugs Bunny, "What a MAROON!" Even the word "stupid" doesn't quite describe someone who would slash their own wrist after being bitten by a WATER SNAKE! Darwin Award candidate? I'd sure think so. NO medical(or any other knowledgeable source)recommends the "cut and suck" technique anymore, not even in emergencies, since far more people have died from the consequences of that than have died of a real venomous snake bite! Some folks just can't drag themselves out of the Dark Ages, though.

This is another sad story of an ignorant "outdoorsman" killing a harmless snake. Please, people, don't kill everything you see...

That snake is obviously a Northern Watersnake. It's non-venomous and it doesn't even have a rattle. A guy thats "used to the idea of rattlesnakes" should probably have noticed the pointy tail. You can clearly see that in the video.
