Investigators think a hot-plate is to blame for starting a fire on Eau Claire's East Hill early Monday morning.

Firefighters say the fire was in the lower unit of this duplex on Talmadge Street.

They got the call around midnight.

Nobody was home in either unit at the time.

Investigators believe the hotplate ignited something nearby.
