Menomonie Logo Up for Review Again
Menomonie school board to review Indian logo, nickname
|
|
The Menomonie school board will again discuss the district's use of an American Indian logo and nickname Monday evening.
The school board will look into changing a policy that sets the use of names, symbols, logos and mascots for school district teams and activities.
School board member Dick Best has suggested a policy that wouldn't portray any racial, cultural, ethnic, religious or other group or individual in a manner which could be interpreted to promote negative images or stereotypes.
Best's suggestion would force organizations affiliated with the school district to get approval from the administration and the school board first.
