The Altoona Police Department is looking for information about a fire officers believe someone set in a School District owned building.
The fire happened around 1:00 Saturday morning.
Police Chief Todd Chaney says neighbors could hear voices at the time of the fire.
They described them as two male voices and one female voice.
Neighbors also saw a gray car leaving the area around that time.
Altoona Choir Director Richard Moses says he was shocked when he found out arsonists burned the building the school uses to store costumes and equipment.
Richard Moses says, "A lot of history was lost basically. There's a lot of hard work in there."
Police Chief Todd Chaney says a passer-by saw flames shooting from the building and called 911.
Todd Chaney says, "When we did an investigation of the origin of the fire, there's no ignition source there except human ignition."
Moses says it's hard to put a price tag on everything lost in the flames.
Richard Moses says, "Materials aside, I don't think I could put a price on it. Just the materials and some of the basic labor in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's really irreplaceable."
And says with tight school budgets, everything in that building was used in several shows.
Richard Moses says, "We were just in there last week looking through what we could use again."
Moses says it's a little daunting right now, but says the school will make the best out of the situation.
Richard Moses says, "We'll start over. My parents and kids are resilient. We'll bounce back from this. We'll be alright. We'll just have to start from square one."
Todd Chaney says, "It's pretty sad that the show choir after all these years and all the work they've put in to establish themselves has to lose all this stuff, just in a random act of criminal damage and arson."
Chaney says if you have any information about the arson, you can call the Altoona Police Department at 715-839-6090.
Chaney says you can remain anonymous.
