Investigators say lightning started a fire that destroyed a home in Chippewa County overnight.

Investigators say lightning started a fire that destroyed a home in Chippewa County overnight.
It happened in the town of Lafayette near Lake Wissota. Crews say lightning hit the home, and a fire smoldered in the attic before spreading.
Firefighters say a sheriff's deputy driving by saw the fire and called for help.
Crews responded at about 1:45am.
Nobody was in the house at the time and nobody was hurt.
Firefighters say the home is a total loss.
