Tammy Lewis in Court for Decayed-Corpse Case
Competency hearing Monday for woman accused in decayed-corpse case

A judge is expected to rule Monday whether a Necedah woman is competent to stand trial on charges linked to a decaying corpse she kept in her bathroom.
Thirty-five-year-old Tammy Lewis is charged along with 57-year-old Alan Bushey with causing mental harm to two children.
Prosecutors say the corpse was that of a 90-year-old woman who collapsed in the bathroom and eventually died.
They say Bushey is a self-proclaimed bishop who insisted Lewis leave the woman there, and that God would bring her back to life if they prayed hard enough.
Lewis lived in the home with her 15-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son.
The decomposing body remained on the toilet for about two months. The home's occupants had to use makeshift bathroom facilities because that was the only toilet in the home.
