NEW INFORMATION: People killed in crash involving van, motorcycle identified

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- The Portage County Sheriff's Department has released new information about the cause of crash that killed two people Monday night.

Investigators say a woman was pulling into a driveway when she turned in front of a motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the minivan's passenger side door. The driver and his passenger were ejected.

The motorcycle driver, 21-year-old Alexander Reeder, of Wisconsin Rapids and his 20-year-old passenger, Katherine Axlen of Mukwonago, died as result of their injuries. Both were wearing helmets.

Reeder and Axlen were both seniors at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.

The Portage County Sheriff's Department is reminding everyone that with the warmer weather motorists should expect to see more motorcycle, bicycles and pedestrians.
TOWN OF LINWOOD, Wis. (AP) --Sheriff's authorities say two people on a motorcycle have died in a collision with a minivan in Portage County.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. Monday on Highway 66 in the Town of Linwood. Investigators say the minivan failed to yield the right of way and the motorcycle struck the vehicle. The two people on the bike were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff's officials say no one in the minivan was seriously injured, but they declined to say how many people were in the vehicle.
