Polk County deputies are trying to find the people responsible for mailbox bombings there this month.

Investigators say earlier this month, vandals put bombs made out of bottles into four mailboxes, blowing them up. The homeowners called it in after hearing a loud explosion outside.

It happened in Osceola, Centuria and St. Croix falls. Deputies say in all the instances, the mailboxes had been taped shut. Postal workers say destroying a mailbox is a federal offense.

If you have information on these mailbox bombings, call the Polk County Sheriff's Department.
