Eau Claire County is now four properties closer to moving forward with plans to expand the jail.
The county board authorized the purchases Tuesday night.
The newly acquired properties include the ones at 741 and 747 Second Avenue, 716 First Avenue, and a vacant lot on Ann Street.
Project manager, Frank Draxler, says last night's vote leaves only 2 more properties for the county to buy.
At a meeting last month, the board passed an eminent domain resolution for those remaining houses.
The owner tells us he'll do whatever it takes to keep his property.
