Wisconsin legislators came to Eau Claire this afternoon to hear from citizens on healthcare.
The state legislature has proposed a bill that would bring down health care expenditures by 15 percent and hopes to make sure at least 98% of people in Wisconsin have health insurance.
According to state information, 8 of the 10 most expensive *metro area physician costs in the entire country are in Wisconsin, with La Crosse, Wausau and Eau Claire coming in at 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
Dozens of people were at the Chippewa Valley Technical College Health Center to speak out on the issue of costs versus services.
"We talk about healthcare costs. Doesn't these facilities have to be held accountable. Private businesses don't do that, I don't do that and we wonder why doctor bills and healthcare costs are so high," said Buffalo County citizen Brach Seitz.
The bill's authors hope to get the bill into action by January 1 of 2008 and to ensure that within 24 hours of that time, 98 percent of Wisconsin residents will have health insurance.
