Wisconsin Sex Offenders Now Must List Home Addresses On Web Site

Registered sex offenders in Wisconsin will have not only their ZIP codes listed on a state Web site, but also their full home addresses.
The new state law went into effect Thursday, December 1st, 2005.

The move is part of a Governor Doyle initiative to prevent sex offenders from fading into anonymity or moving without notifying authorities as required by law.

The Sex Offender Registry Web site was launched in 2001 by the Department of Corrections. It currently lists almost 18,000 offenders who are required to register.
