Electricians, plumbers, bricklayers and other specialists in the construction trades are usually in high demand.
To be a part of those trade professions, a person will complete an apprenticeship. At the Chippewa Valley Technical College in Chippewa Falls, a group of employers gather for their regular training session on how to maintain their apprenticeship programs.
Officials who help run the sessions see a trend emerging, fewer employers. They believe it's from misconceptions, while employers say it's caused by slow business. Employers believe business will start to pick up in the future, allowing more apprentices to be hired.
Until then, the competition to get accepted into a program will remain competitive.
