Governor Jim Doyle is meeting Friday with officials in Jefferson County and touring areas hard hit by this month's flooding.

It's among the flood-stricken counties not yet named federal disaster areas, but the cities of Jefferson and Fort Atkinson have been inundated with flood water from massive rains two weeks ago.

The latest forecast is for the Rock River in Fort Atkinson to crest Saturday.

So far, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has declared 15 Wisconsin counties as disaster areas, which opens the way for people to apply for money to help cover expenses from storm damage, such as home repair and temporary housing costs.

Added to the list Thursday were Fond du Lac, Iowa and Marquette counties.

Doyle says FEMA is still doing damage assessments in other counties. He declared a state of emergency in 30 counties after the storms and flooding hit.

Others declared federal disaster areas are Columbia, Crawford, Dodge, Green, Milwaukee, Racine, Richland, Sauk, Vernon, Washington, Waukesha, and Winnebago counties.
