A meeting open to the public, will be held tomorrow evening in Madison regarding rules for existing and future piers on public waterways.
Most docks, decks, and boat launches will be grandfathered in by a simple free registration system. It's those huge decks that the DNR has a problem with.
The concern is for these types of piers that have an effect on the surrounding fishery, and aquatic plant life around the shoreline. The DNR does say that 99 percent of piers won't be effected by the new regulations.
