The naming controversy at the UW La Crosse stadium and football field comes to an end Friday with a vote by state regents.
The Board of Regents voted to name the football field after former coach Roger Harring.
Five years of protests and debates began when La Crosse added the coach's name to Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Veterans protested and the name was removed and later place on the playing field.
Vets didn't like that either. At least two lawsuits were filed against the university.
The compromise approved by the regents returns the stadium name to Memorial Field, its original name from 1948. The playing field will be named for Harring and other athletic fields can be named as the university sees fit.
