Killer Of Wisconsin Albino Deer Faces Fines

A hunter is cited for killing a rare albino deer in Bayfield County.

The charge against Larry Higgins of Bancroft carries a fine of a thousand dollars, plus expenses. A judge could also take away his hunting privileges.

The white deer was killed November 21st near Cable. True albino deer are unique in nature. Conservation warden Mike Vogolsang in Ashland says they're in need of protection because they're so special.

After the carcass is used as evidence, the venison will be donated to food pantries, and the hide put on display by the DNR.
