City of Eau Claire officials remind you not to leave your car running for two reasons: So you don't get it stolen, and so you don't have to pay $198.
An Eau Claire city ordinance states no person shall leave an automobile unattended on any street, parking lot, public ground or alley while the motor is running.
Every year that the ordinance has been in effect the number of cars stolen in the city has went down.
