Senate Votes to End Gas Tax Increase

The state Senate has voted to end Wisconsin's automatic increase in the gas tax each year.
Representative Jeff Wood of Chippewa Falls introduced the bill.
It was approved in a 20 to 13 vote and would end the increase in 2007. Wisconsin's gas tax is now at about 30 cents a gallon.
That, plus another three cents a gallon to clean up old gas stations, makes the tax one of the highest in the country.
Wood is thinks the Assembly will vote on the bill early next week.
