Chippewa Administrator
A county administrator may be hired in the future to oversee all Chippewa county departments.
The proposal was in the meeting agenda on Tuesday, December 13. However, was pulled because it did not first go through the personnel committee and the administrative committee. Instead, it will be presented during next month's meeting.
Board members feel that having one person would help direct the county's priorities in one direction, rather than several, different directions.
Those who are opposed to the resolution claim it will be costly, but supporters say otherwise...
" We have the money to pay for it for a couple of years and theoretically, in other areas where this has happened, the administrator results in enough savings that it more than enough pays for the position itself," said Mary Ann King, a Chippewa County board supervisor.
So far, eight county board members have signed the resolution to hire a county administrator.
