Tomah Police Investigate Fatal Shooting

Tomah authorities say a 20-year-old man was found dead in an apartment after trading gunshots with a police officer. The officer was called to the home to investigate a disturbance and underage drinking.

Police Chief Chris Anderson says an autopsy is being conducted to see if victim Chandler Green died from a gunshot fired by the officer or whether he may have killed himself.

Officers say police were called on Friday and found underage drinking at a party attended by fewer than 10 people.

Anderson says while an officer was dealing with the drinking violation, Green abruptly fired from a pistol through the window, and the officer returned fire.

Authorities say no one else was injured
