Project Brings Two Generations Together

In an effort to develop bonds and relationships between two generations, the "Memory Art" project -- which is part of the Caring Arts program -- was launched to bring elementary-aged school children and the elderly together.
Three to five students were paired with a "grand-partner" and over a series of meetings. The children and the adults got to know one another and make a tile that now is being showcased on a column...
"Each of these tiles shows what's important to the children and to the elders and by combining them together, they're telling a story about who they are, about their experiences with one another,” said Ann Collier, project coordinator.
This project was based on the book Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge, which was read by the grand-partners and students in a previous meeting.
