Coach McCarthy

By  | and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel are reporting the Green Bay Packers will fill their head coach vacancy with San Francisco 49'ers Offensive Coordinator Mike McCarthy.
McCarthy is a former Packers assistant coach, working as Green Bay's quarterback coach back in 1999 under Ray Rhodes.
Packers General Manager Ted Thompson interviewed McCarthy on Sunday. He was one of seven candidates for the job.
While it's not believed to have played a significant part in Thompson's decision to offer the job to McCarthy, the apparent new head coach of the Packers does have a good relationship with Quarterback Brett Favre.
McCarthy’s agent, Gary O’Hagan told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel the Packers and McCarthy are still in the process of working out a deal.
An announcement to make McCarthy the 14th head coach in Packers franchise history is expected this afternoon.
