If you want to avoid pesticides in your neighborhood, state officials urge you to apply for the "landscape pesticide advance notice registry" right away.
The deadline is February first and it's free.
To get an application you can call (608)-224-4616, or go to the department website at datcp.state.wi.us/ and enter “landscape registry" in the search box.
You can also request an application by mail. Write to the Landscape Registry Coordinator, Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, P.O. Box 8911, Madison, WI, 53708-8911.
Beginning mid-March, depending on the weather, you'll start getting phone calls, postcards or notices on your door.
The registry coordinator says over a 1000 people were on the list last year. Most wanted to know when to keep kids and pets inside or when to keep their windows closed.
