The state Department of Public Instruction says enrollment in four-K climbed to nearly 21,000 students in the current school year.

Twenty-seven districts added the four-K program this school year. That brings the total to 234 districts that offer the program in Wisconsin.

In the 2001-2002 school year, 166 districts offered four-K. The Eau Claire School District has offered 4-K for two years now.
