Altoona school leaders say the three teenagers who allegedly set fire to one of the school's storage buildings are Altoona High School students.

Altoona High School's Choral Director Richard Moses says he has no idea, other than they were trying to find something to do, they just picked the wrong activity.

"I just think they were screwing around doing something. They were probably bored. I don't think it was a target attack,” he says.

Moses says he doesn't even think the students knew the house was owned by the school district.

Police arrested two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old yesterday in connection with the fire set earlier this month to the storage building.

It held the school's show choir costumes and props.

The two 17-year-olds, Nathan Overboe and Jonathan Flesch, are out of jail on a $1,000 bond.

An Eau Claire County Court Commissioner ordered that this morning, along with a 10 p.m. curfew.

Moses says everyone is coming together, though, to help the school rebuild.

"All the other show choirs from the area, Onalaska, Eau Claire Memorial, Chippewa Falls, they've all offered help. And many other schools have offered even emails of support. It's neat to see that kind of support from the community,” he says.

Moses says the damage total is up to $60,000 so far, but he says that doesn't include the house.

Superintendent of Schools Greg Fahrman says the district will do its own investigation.

He says punishment could include expulsion.

17-year-olds Nathan Overboe and Jonathan Flesch appeared in Eau Claire County court Friday morning. A court commissioner also ordered the suspects to follow a 10 p.m. curfew.

Officers arrested Overboe, Flesch, and a 16-year-old on Thursday. All three are Altoona High School students.

Earlier this month, police say a fire was set in a building owned by the Altoona school district. The fire destroyed costumes and equipment used by the Altoona show choir and drama groups.
