AS TEMPERATURES START TO DIP FROM THE BALMY 30'S AND 40'S...
MORE ANGLERS ARE BEGINNING TO GET BACK OUT ON THE ICE.
TODAY ON LAKE ALTOONA YOU COULD EVEN SPOT SEVERAL FULL-SIZED PICK-UPS TRAVELING ACROSS THE ICE.
LOCAL ANGLERS WE TALKED TO TODAY SAID THE THINNEST ICE THEY'VE SEEN WAS 11 INCHES....THE THICKEST REPORTS WERE OVER 14 INCHES.
ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SAFE ICE...MANY PEOPLE ARE FIRING UP THERE ICE AUGERS AND SETTING UP THEIR SHANTIES.

Pablo Marticorena - "Right now I know because of the internet.....I know it's 11 inches. But, I still like to do my own checking as I go to my fishing spot. Drilling holes on my way out there. I like to have at least 7 inches"

HERE'S A HELPFUL WEBSITE THAT LISTS ICE THICKNESS'S ON AREA LAKES...AS WELL AS FISHING
TRENDS ON THOSE LAKES.
