A crash in Barron County killed a Minnesota man this weekend.

The sheriff's department says it happened Sunday night at the intersection of Highway 8 and County Highway KK.

Deputies say a ford pick-up driven by a 23-year-old man from Turtle Lake was driving north when it hit a motorcycle driven by a 41-year-old Red Wing man.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

The motorcyclist was my 51 year old uncle (article misprint regarding age). His head was not hit. The left side of his body was smashed, crushing many important internal organs. A helmet had nothing to do with this tragedy.

He was not wearing a helmet. No fault has been determined yet. Diver of vehicle was not drinking.

Would be nice to know if the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet that could have saved him and also who was at fault.
