A Minnesota prison inmate who wasn't allowed to visit his daughter when she was dying in a Wisconsin hospital isn't being permitted to go to her funeral, either.
The funeral and burial are in the Chicago suburb of Itasca, Illinois, for 12-year-old Lizeth Cano.
The girl was on life support at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield for more than a week after being severely injured in a traffic accident January 28th.
Officials at the federal prison in Waseca, Minnesota, refused pleas from the family to let her father, Desi Cano, pay her a final visit to say goodbye.
Family members had been on the way to visit him in prison when the car went out of control on icy pavement and crashed.
The prison officials contend Cano can't be temporarily released because as a drug conspirator he's a "high-risk prisoner."
