A two-time Olympian is looking forward to watching the winter games from her home in Hudson. Karyn Bye Dietz was the assistant captain for the U.S. women's hockey team in 1998 in Nagano, Japan and 2002 games in Salt Lake City.
She calls it an honor to have two medals, but the gold from 1998 holds a special place in her memory. "That was the first time women's ice hockey was in the Olympics," says Bye. "I think it was a spring board for women's athletics as a whole, but more specifically, women's ice hockey, seeing all these younger programs have been created and a lot more girls are like 'Hey, women's ice hockey, I want to play.'"
The former Olympian is looking forward to watching her former teammates and fellow Americans compete from her couch, with her family.
