The torch has been taken to Torino and the 2006 Winter Olympics are underway. There are ten Badger State athletes listed on the olympic roster. But even more athletes have ties to Wisconsin.
He's back and Casey FitzRandolph, a speedskater from Verona hopes he's faster.
FitzRandolph says, "winning at the games is priority number one... If i could achieve one thing it'd be to repeat as a gold medalist."
Janesville native and speedskater Tucker Frederick hopes to glide to the gold. Frederick says "I gotta make Madison proud and Wisconsin and Janesville."
A first-time olympian, Maureen Brunt from portage says she and her curling partner are so proud they can't contain their excitement
Brunt says, "all of a sudden we'll just look at eachother and smile and say we're going to the olympics!"
And there's even a couple former Badger hockey players who are claiming Canada, but Dany Heatley wants Wisconsin fans to approve. Heatley says, "anytime you get to play for your country it's a special thing."

Speedskaters include Kip Carpenter from Brookfield, Catherine Raney from Elm Grove, Maria Lamb from River Falls, Chris Witty from West Allis, and Elli Ochowicz from Waukesha. Chris Cook from Rhinelander is a cross country skiier and of course, Molly Engstrom from Siren is on the U.S. women's hockey team.
