County Increases Checks

In Eau Claire County the Health Department hopes to prevent such a tragedy from happening in their county, by increasing the number of places they check to make sure no underage person is able to get alcohol.

Through the program called Reality Check 21, which works to reduce the number of underage drinkers, they check retail stores to see if they card people when buying alcohol.

This spring they will increase the checks to include all bars in the county.

Officials say they will check bars at least once a year.

Violators could face up to a $400 fine.
