Both houses of the state Legislature met in special session today to talk about Governor Doyle’s Energy Assistance proposal.
But, they quickly adjourned without taking any action.
Doyle called the special session to discuss his $6 million plan to provide one-time heating help for families of four who make less than $40,000 a year. They would get up to $300. Right now, only families that make $29,000 or less are eligible for help.
The Legislature's budget committee is scheduled to meet later today to consider Doyle's plan.
It could help up to 30,000 families. The $6 million would come from an environmental cleanup fund.
