Seven Racketeering Suspects Free on Bond

Seven of eight people charged with racketeering in the Eau Claire area are free on bond as of Wednesday.

Stacy Deprey is being held on a different matter.

All of them appeared in court Wednesday morning, in person, or via videoconference.

39-year old Duane Kolve was the only suspect to appear in person.

He came voluntarily Wednesday morning and posted a $10,000 cash bond, while the other six were released on $5,000 signature bonds.

A judge ruled that none of them are allowed to contact witnesses listed in a criminal complaint. Police say kolve and the other seven supervised several local businesses where employees gathered more than $10 million in donations, though only pennies of every dollar actually went to charity.
The suspects are scheduled to be back in court next month.
