Wisconsin Anti-War Protest Disrupts Senator Kohl Speech

Anti-war demonstrators took over a campaign rally Wednesday for Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl.

They rushed the lectern microphone at a Madison theater just as the Milwaukee Democrat was to begin speaking.

About a half dozen members of the National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance demanded Kohl sign a pledge to begin bringing US troops home from Iraq and end funding the war.

Campaign staffers tried to intervene as Kohl stood by, but protesters didn't leave until the audience started chanting "we want Herb" and his supporters crowded the demonstrators away from the microphone.

Kohl told the protesters he wouldn't sign the pledge. Kohl has consistently opposed immediately withdrawing from Iraq.
