Governor Jim Doyle says more than 400 sex offenders who eluded the state's registration law have been found since a new initiative five months ago.
Doyle said the compliance rate for the state's registry of sex offenders is now 88 %.
He's also proposing a most wanted list of the most dangerous sex offenders who have failed to register.
“We want to make sure that we're finding every single one of those people who is required to be on that registry,” says Doyle.
The Governor also adds that the most dangerous sex offenders will be monitored by global monitoring systems through ankle bracelets.
So far, SAFE or the Sex Offender Apprehension Enforcement Initiative, has located 436 sex offenders since September, including 273 who committed crimes against juveniles.
