The state is making $15 million available to help out flood-affected communities.

The money comes in grant form.

It goes toward helping low and moderate income homeowners fix structural damage that isn't covered by insurance or federal aid.

The funding also goes toward repairing damage to public structures and facilities that isn't covered.

Communities will tally up their needs, then apply for the funds.

The Department of Commerce also asked for federal help in paying for flood relief.
