9-Alarm fire in Boston

BOSTON (NBC NEWS) -- Firefighters are battling a 9-alarm fire that has broken out in the Back Bay Wednesday afternoon.

According to Boston Fire, the building at 298 Beacon St. is a 4-story brick brownstone. The fire started in the basement and officials responded at around 2:43 p.m.

According to sources, two firefighters suffered third degree burns and are in serious conditions. In total, there have been four transports to area hospitals.

Boston Public Schools are saying to expect school bus delays near Back Bay and downtown due to the fire. For bus updates, people are asked to call 617-635-9520 or visit the school bus website .

The fire is impacting traffic. Storrow Drive is closed and MassDOT is urging commuters to seek an alternative route. Beacon St. is closed from Arlington St. to Mass. Ave.
