TOMAH, Wis. (AP) -- A Tomah man is arrested, then taken to a mental health facility after barricading himself in an apartment with a woman and her 10-year-old son.
Police say they responded to a report of an attempted suicide Sunday night. A man refused to leave the apartment and made threats involving weapons.
The Monroe County Combined Tactical Unit responded to the apartment. After several hours, the 30-year-old woman and child walked onto a second-floor deck. The man pulled the woman back in the apartment and SWAT team members used a ladder to rescue the boy.
Officers later entered the apartment and found the couple barricaded in a bedroom. Authorities say the woman was removed from the bedroom and officers used a TASER to take the man into custody.
