Marathon County authorities say a woman who died at her Spencer home was apparently suffocated by a ceramic decorative plate, shaped like an Easter bunny, that had been shoved down her throat.
Thirty-eight-year-old Patrick Zurkowski is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his 40-year-old wife June Zurkowski.
The assistant district attorney says an autopsy found parts of the plate had broken off and lodged in the victim's throat, blocking her airway.
Patrick Zurkowski called a funeral home Saturday and said his wife died suddenly.
The funeral home called police.
Zurkowski will be in court April 5. Bail is set at $1 million.
