Winona police have arrested two men in connection with a houme invasion that left a couple hospitalized.
The suspects are 19 and 21 years old. Both are from Winona.
Police say the two men broke into the couple's house because they believed the couple knew about a stolen safe containing money and drugs.
Police later recovered that safe along with other evidence. Police Chief Frank Pomeroy calls the couple innocent victims.
Authorities say the 57-year-old man and his 55-year-old wife were awakened by a knock on their door before dawn Tuesday. When the woman answered, she was attacked by two male intruders.
Police said the woman was tied up and beaten with pool cue. Her husband came to her aid and also was beaten. Police withheld the couple's names.
Nothing from the home was stolen
