Governor Jim Doyle's own pollster is warning that the Democratic governor faces a tough road to re-election in November.
Analysts tracking governors' races have predicted Doyle will have his hands full to become the first Democratic governor in the state to win re-election in 32 years.
Several polls show Doyle's approval ratings in the low to mid-40 percent range.
Doyle has faced hostility from the Republican-controlled Legislature.
There's also been questions raised by his fund-raising tactics, and analysts note that Doyle's liberal base has been disappointed by many of the Madison Democrat's decisions.
