The first ever Baby Essentials Drive started Monday and donations of diapers, clothing, blankets and other supplies are needed.
While some will be sent overseas to hospitals in Haiti and Tanzania, the majority of the supplies will go to build diaper bags for the Eau Claire County Crisis Response Volunteer program.
"When the mothers come in and have to be treated or counseled, the babies are left under the care of these volunteers and they are needing supplies," says Kelly Lauscher, who works for the center.
New or gently used baby supplies are being accepted at Sacred Heart's Center for Healthy Living, which is located behind the hospital at 2125 Heights Drive. The drive runs until the final Friday of April. Drop-off times are from 9:00am to 3:00pm weekdays.
