Clark County Chief Deputy Jim Backus says the Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting death of 45-year-old Mary C. Frick from Granton. Investigators say she died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators say a 911 call came in around 7:40 a.m., July 22, about a gunshot victim on Hill Road southeast of Granton. They say no one was in custody, but neighbors don't need to be worried.
Investigators say the 911 call came from the house where the woman died, but would not say if she made the call. Backus says the woman died before investigators got there.
New information from Thursday's press conference:
From Chief Deputy Jim Backus:
Preliminary investigation shows the victim died of a single gunshot wound to the head. As investigation continues, the Sheriff’s Department is awaiting autopsy and forensic reports and will not release any other details at this time.
As additional information becomes available further news releases will be provided. There is no one in custody and we emphasize there is no danger to the public.
I also want to emphasize there has been a lot of rumor and speculation in this case, which hampers the course of this investigation. The Sheriff’s Department and Coroner’s office continue to pursue the facts of this case and will continue the investigation.
