A Wisconsin delegate to the Democratic National Convention could learn Friday whether she will lose that position over her past statement that she would vote for Republican John McCain if Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee for president.

State Democratic Party spokeswoman Rachel Strauch-Nelson says a conference call is scheduled Friday, and Debra Bartoshevich of Waterford will get a chance to explain why she should stay as a delegate despite the reported comment.

The state party petitioned the national party to have Bartoshevich removed as a delegate. For one thing, the party noted that delegates sign a statement saying they will support the party's nominee.

Strauch-Nelson says the national party decided the matter was within authority of the state Democrats to decide, so the party's 39-member Administrative Committee will decide in a vote after the conference call.
