The star player for the Eau Claire Express is done for the summer after he was arrested in Madison.

Kole Calhoun is a two-time Northwoods League all star.

Calhoun didn't want to talk about the disorderly conduct charge, but he did want to say something to his fans.

"I'd like to apologize. This isn't the way i wanted my summer to go. I made a mistake and I'm kinda paying for it now. Hopefully I'll move on from here and I'll see everyone next summer," Calhoun told us Thursday afternoon.

The Madison Police Department says Calhoun was arrested for underage drinking, underage possession of alcohol and disorderly conduct. It happened at 4:51 a.m. Tuesday July 15. That's the morning after the Northwoods all star game in Madison.

According to the criminal complaint, Calhoun was storming around the Hilton Hotel in Madison and swearing a lot. When officers arrested him, he started swearing at them. Police say the 20-year-old's blood alcohol level was 0.26 in the Dane County jail. Calhoun is charged with one count of disorderly conduct.

Thursday, Express Manager Dale Varsho said the league and team had no choice but to suspend last year's co-MVP. He says Calhoun is very humbled right now.

"It's a very hard thing. I love Kole to death. It's an opportunity for him to hopefully build off his mistakes and hopefully he can go forward and learn his lesson and hopefully he can be a stronger person on top of it," Varsho said.

Varsho said he would be happy to have Calhoun back on the team next season. Calhoun is set to play at Arizona State this fall. He says he talked to his coach there and will still be a part of the team.
