Eau Claire County Deputies say an ATV driver crashed into a tree Thursday night, and had to be airlifted to the hospital.

The crash happened off Hamilton Falls Road, which is near MM south of Stanley, but just over the line in Eau Claire County.

Investigators tell us one person on an ATV crashed into a tree after missing a corner. Deputies say he was riding in a group, but was leading the pack when it happened. Deputies also say that both speed and alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Rescue crews called in a helicopter to airlift the victim to the hospital in Marshfield.

They say he has non life-threatening injuries to his leg and head. They say he was wearing a helmet.

Thats what happened to people who drive under the influence! WHen are people gonna learn NOT to do these stupid things. Well, the helmet probably saved his life.. Maybe next time he'll think twice....
