Trial Begins In Cottonwood Bus Crash

Jury selection has begun in the trial of the woman accused of causing the fatal Cottonwood school bus crash last February.
Olga Marina Franco del Cid of Minneota faces four counts of criminal vehicular homicide for the deaths of four Lakeview School students. Four jurors had been selected as of noon Monday.
The defense plans to argue that Franco's boyfriend was driving the minivan that crashed into the bus, and that he pulled her behind the wheel afterward and ran away. The boyfriend has not been found.
The trial was moved from Lyon County to the Kandiyohi County Courthouse in Willmar. District Judge David Peterson has imposed a gag order on all parties in the case.
