Police Investigate Death Of Man Run Over On Highway

The Bayfield County dispatch center received a call at 2 Monday morning at from a 22-year-old woman who said she was a passenger in a car that ran over a body in the road. She said she and the driver, a 22-year-old man, were going east on state Highway 137 in the town of Eileen when it happened.
After deputies and Ashland police arrived, 23-year-old Gregory Hebert, Junior, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's department says the driver braked and swerved but was unable to avoid the body.
Officials say it isn't known if Hebert had been hit by another vehicle before being run over.
