Eau Claire’s 14th National Night Out On Crime took place Tuesday night in Owen Park.
It included food and fun for the whole family, but Eau Claire Police Officer, Art Nelson, says the event really centers around building a safer community.
He says the event also helps strengthen the partnership between Police and the people they protect, "Everybody needs to see us not only as just law enforcement officers, but also part of their community. This is important to us. We need the community members; it makes our job easier when we have other people watching out for their communities as well as us looking out for them."
The National Night Out On Crime also gave families a chance to check-out the inside of a police car and a fire truck.
